Personal Biography

He is a member of the Dutch Saxophone Quartet since 1981. He has specialised himself among others as pupil of Ed Bogaard into a Baritone-saxophone player. He performed with classical ensembles and with Symphony Orchestras. He forms a duo with piano player Guido Nielsen. In 1999 they recorded a cd on the label Erasmus.
Composers who have written works especially for him are among others: Huub de Vriend, Henk Alkema, Chiel Meijering and Ida Gotovsky.
He is also active in Jazz music with among others his own trio, as Bass-saxophone player: Trio Grande, the Consonant Five and free lance in several combinations.

Trio Grande
Together with trumpet player Sytze van Duin and Tenor-guitar player/singer Rolf Koppijn in their own arrangements a traditional jazz repetoire is being played. The Conn Bass saxophone, made in 1919, plays a crucial part here. See for further information on Trio Grande: www.triogrande.nl.
